The Kidrobot Pirate Store NYC is live! I designed it very Andy Warhol Factory (he would have been 80 this year), and I was full of fears that it would look like a horrible left over freezer bag -- and in fact it came out amazing. We're having our first clearance sale ever for the next 10 days or so, getting rid of the flotsom and jetsom from our warehouse. Then the real pirate store opens for six weeks, with all kinds of art stuff planned. Live painting, toy painting, signings, and some unbelievable surprises.
Our old beloved Prince street store is closed down now, and it really broke my heart when we shut the door yesterday for the last time and I walked by to see it quiet and empty for the first time in four years. And, there's no place for nostalgia if I'm going to keep doing good work... what's coming after for NYC is really amazing, and I'll be mute about that for now to keep you guessing!

I'm so stoked to visit the pirate store! I'm from LA, going to visit the NYC for the first time this April to help host a dance competition (http://www.tmdance.org/preludeec.html).
I had a question about submissions: Do you only consider designs for toys or do you also accept other ideas such as apparel, lifestyle, accessories, etc?
Good luck with your dance performance.
We accept all kinds of submissions, and our schedule is so full, it's important to not have too many expectations!

Paul, when mention Andy Warhol I get curious. I was just with Andy's neice this past weekend in Philadelphia for an exhibition of her traditionally painted eggs. I'm going to check out he pirate store this week to see what you have done with it.-KaMo
Very cool concept basing the pirate shop on Warhol's Factory scene. It's always cool to see artist pay homage.
