Miami...
Just landing in the airplane, and there's this guy sitting next to me
with an airline blanket over his head. I am dying to get a picture of
this but its too dark.
Come say hi at our store opening tomorrow night! It looks so great!

What could this be huh?

Check out Nemisis Project's Blog, and take a guess. The answer will debut at the new KR Miami store in South Beach, opening the end of this week.

I love Los Angeles. I love Hollywood. They're beautiful. Everybody's plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic.

JK5 paintings & drawings @ Saved Gallery, Williamsburg

If you are anywhere near NYC, I highly recommend that you go see JK5's amazing exhibition, including Flowbot paintings and many sketches and drawings at the Saved Gallery at 3 Hope Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The space is totally packed with amazing, rich work by an amazing human being. JK5 is one of the sweetest human beings I know, and you can feel that that, and really deep talent, coming through his work. My favorite piece is his self portrait, with his brain coming through an open book of his life story, in the far right corner of the gallery (sorry, my camera wasn't working well on my phone at the opening and don't have a pic to show here). You might want to call ahead for open hours.

"Anyone can feel that art can either be something that is very generous or something that can be a segregator. And the way it segregates is to make people feel uncomfortable about their own cultural history. So I just wanted to make works that just embraced everybody's cultural history and made everybody feel that their history was perfect just the way it is."

Really really really really good Karma

Sa and I walked out of our hotel early this morning and stumbled right into Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova of The Swell Season in our lobby (also stars of the movie Once that came out a few months ago). I rather enthusiastically found myself telling Glen what a fantastic movie they had made, and how super fantastic he and Marketa were in it, and just basically how incredibly fantastic their music is. Glen had no idea who we were, but put us on the guest list for their show this evening at the Moore Theater! What a nice person!
Glen's music is melancholy, but his sense of humor makes the whole experience cathartic rather than depressing in any way. They both have killer voices and the 5-piece band was flawless. They come off as authentic, genuine human beings and the music live is even stronger than in recordings or in their film.
If you can't go out right now and see them live, you should go out and see Once (still at the Sunshine in New York City last week), and if you can't go out and see Once, buy their CD's or download their music online. This band rules.
